Blackjack Variants

Blackjack is a game that has a ton of variants on a simple concept. Almost every casino will offer several different types of blackjack, from single deck blackjack to European blackjack and more. Several online casinos even offer their own proprietary versions of blackjack. Bovada, for example, offers Zappit blackjack, which allows players to remove cards from their hand in exchange for two new cards, but also allows the dealer a few advantages as well. Other changes casinos might make to the traditional blackjack rules include a change in payout ratio. The traditional payout ratio in blackjack is 3:2, meaning that when you get a blackjack, you get paid out 1.5x what you put in, as opposed to getting 1:1 odds for simply beating the dealer. However, some casinos have changed that ratio to 6:5, which is worse for you. If you can, make sure to find tables that pay out at 3:2 instead of 6:5, because in the long run it increases your payout by around 1%. That may seem small, but it’s effectively free value - and consider that the casinos wouldn’t be doing it if 1% didn’t matter.

Video Blackjack

Video blackjack is one of the most common ways for an online casino to offer blackjack gameplay with relatively low investment on their part. Basically, you’re playing against an automated dealer, and that means that you can play a lot of blackjack in a very short time. However, given how shady the gambling business can be, many online gamblers are wary of video blackjack, as they are unable to make sure that they are not being cheated. It is unlikely that a casino would cheat on their video blackjack offerings, simply because even though blackjack is a fair game, in the long run it is still in the casino’s favor by a slight percentage. They don’t need to cheat you - the game itself is in their favor, as is every other game in the casino. That’s the business, after all.

Live Dealer Blackjack

Live dealer blackjack evolved as a solution to the trust problem engendered by the existence of online video blackjack. After all, if you’re worried about getting screwed by a casino, one way to make sure you’re not getting screwed is to watch the person dealing you the cards. Live dealer blackjack lets you do this. Only some online casinos offer live dealer blackjack, but they’re the kind of casino you’ll want to be using anyway. Live dealer blackjack tends to come with a few less variants available - mostly the most common ones. Still, if you want to play blackjack on the internet, and you’re worried about the truthfulness of a dealer, playing live dealer blackjack is a good way to put your mind at ease.

Mobile Blackjack

Mobile gaming is one of the peak ways to play blackjack, and most online gamblers do so via mobile devices at this point. Many online casinos will offer mobile versions of their websites so you can access them on iPhones and Android devices. The only question is where the casino is located. Some states have deregulated the casino market to the point that apps are available, while others will require the use of offshore casinos, which only operate via mobile websites, not apps. Regardless, it is remarkably easy to figure out a way to play blackjack online on your phone, so you should be good to go. Good luck!
